October 15-21 is Ontario Public Library Week. It is a time to recognize and raise awareness of the valuable role libraries play in the community. The theme this year is “A visit will get you thinking”. We are confident that, whether you visit this week or in a month from now, you will find something that will get you thinking. 

The North Pelham Youth Association is looking for someone to clean a community hall for 2 hours/week.

The Town of Pelham is looking great as the fall colours are upon us and the new executive and I are looking forward to the new season. As the town continues to grow with new residents and businesses, we look forward to serving the business community by advocating on behalf of local business interests at the Town, displaying a positive image of our business community within the Town, and hosting workshops for our members to enjoying learning and networking opportunities throughout the year.

Everyone has heard about The Top 30 Under 30.  We believe that celebrating the accomplishments of people over 50 is just as important; that age does not define an individual and what we can and cannot do.  We will be recognizing and celebrating the accomplishments of successful individuals over 50;  individuals who have reinvented themselves, who have found their true purpose and calling and who have followed the road less travelled. 

Our Fonthill Legion local Poppy Campaign kicks off on Friday October 27th when Mayor Dave Augustyn will be ceremoniously presented with the first poppy to be worn during this year’s campaign.

From the last Friday in October to Remembrance Day on November 11th, millions of Canadians wear a Poppy as a visual pledge to honour Canada’s Veterans and remember those who sacrificed for our freedom.

If you’re a resident or business in Pelham and have suggestions on how your money should be used to improve the Town in 2018, you are encouraged to make your voice heard at this year’s Budget Open House on October 23, at 6:30 p.m. at Pelham Town Hall.

As of Monday, October 16, College faculty in Ontario represented by OPSEU are on strike. This strike includes faculty at Niagara College.

Do you have any suggestions on how the Town should use your money to improve our Town? Council will begin our 2018 budget process with a special public meeting where we listen to you and other members of the community about what you would like to see in next year’s and future budgets. That meeting will occur on Monday, October 23 at 6:30 PM in the Council Chamber at Town Hall.
