Niagara thrives off of tourism. Each year our economy relies on the thousands of families, couples and friends that holiday in our backyard.  While tourism is big business, it requires thousands up to millions of dollars in marketing. In association with the Discover Ontario brand, the Government of Ontario offers tourism partners a chance to expand their own marketing budgets.

Why were a couple dozen lacrosse players marching proudly in their distinctive green and gold jerseys through Downtown Fenwick on Saturday? Because they participated in the annual Pelham Santa Claus parade to let everyone know they are moving back home. That’s right, the Pelham Raiders are moving back to Pelham.

A familiar face is once again serving on Pelham Town Council. James Lane, filling the vacant Ward 1 seat, was officially sworn in at the Dec. 4 meeting of Town Council. Now his third time sitting on Council, Lane says it is just a matter of getting back into the swing of things as a Councillor. Given the proximity to the next municipal election and Lane’s extensive experience as a Pelham Councillor, the decision to appoint Lane was the best option; a by-election or application process would have taken weeks or months.

The students in Wilma Harris’ grade one class at Beacon Christian School are fundraising until March to purchase nails to help build a Habitat home in Niagara next year. “The children helped to come up with the jobs they could do around the house for money,” explains Wilma Harris, Teacher at Beacon Christian School. “They are also keeping a journal of the chores they are doing, drawing a picture and writing a sentence at least twice a week.”
