In addition to the great products Habitat for Humanity’s ReStores offer, the Fonthill ReStore also offers its customers the opportunity to bid on selected merchandise through a silent auction. Silent auction items may include antique or refinished furniture, home decor, artwork, jewelry, or other unique or valuable collectibles.

Over the past 10 weeks I have engaged Pelham’s voters both online and in person to find out the issues that are most important to you. I did this because I believe the Regional Councillor position should be reflective of the issues, not determined by the person filling the role. Political representation should be just that – representation.

The Town of Pelham is pleased to welcome Jason Marr as its new director of public works. A graduate of Queen’s University and professional engineer, Marr’s professional experience spans 20-plus years across various scopes and responsibilities.

The key to a flattering hairstyle is one that creates the illusion that you have a perfectly oval face. There are cuts that help make a round face appear longer, a long face appear wider, a square jaw appear softer and large foreheads and double chins basically disappear.

The two issues are regulated differently at a federal, provincial, and municipal level. Below is information on the two issues, commonly requested information, and enforcement information.

On Monday, October 15, 2018, the Town of Pelham passed an interim control by law restricting the use of all land in the municipality for any cannabis-related land uses for a period of one year to allow time for the municipality to develop requirements for cannabis-related use as it relates to land use matters.

Let’s harness our positive Pelham momentum and energy and infuse it into Niagara Regional Council.

This election I ask for your support to work together on what matters across all of the Niagara Peninsula.

Future development always causes concern within a community. The two remaining large tracts for development in our community are the East Fonthill lands and the East Fenwick development area. The East Fonthill area is underway and developments are being serviced at this time. There are still several that need to come forward for approval and are at various stages of the process. Council needs to be mindful of the current community and the goals of the new development; not to undermine what we have but to add to it and to enhance it.

I am grateful to the electors in Ward 1 for the privilege of serving you, and I humbly and respectfully ask for your vote to continue to represent you in the coming term.

“Hi, I’m Michael Jacques.” With these four words, our most recent guest speaker (along with his dad, Marcel) blew us away with his story of overcoming adversity to become an impressive community leader, not only for Pelham, but for several great service organizations as well.

Memory is part of what makes us human. On the centenary of the end of the First World War, The History Lab, with the support of Brock’s Department of History, the centre for Canadian Studies, and the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts, invite you to witness and remember the more than one million men and women who died in the last year of the way.

Crisp air, falling leaves and in-season produce mean it’s time to celebrate fall’s bounty with delicious recipes.

At this time, we would like to ask you to submit to us information on any special events that your organization or group is planning for the upcoming holiday season that you would like us to include in the Christmas in Pelham Event Listing. Please note that individual commercial advertising is not permitted and event inclusion is not guaranteed.  Attached is the 2016 event listing so that you can see the type of events featured.

Niagara Region continues to maintain its “AA” credit rating, with a stable outlook, according to an October 10, 2018 confirmation report released by credit rating agency Standard and Poor’s.  The report indicates that Niagara’s budgetary performance has improved and is expected to continue to benefit from a supportive institutional framework, prudent debt and liquidity management practices and from sound financial management. However, these strengths are mitigated by its limited ability to raise tax revenues because of low household income levels and slow economic and assessment growth compared to similar municipalities.

Come January, many “snowbirds” will be heading south. If you plan to escape Canada for the winter, be certain your financial life is in order before you go. There are two critical elements to ensuring you’ll be in good financial shape: Make sure your affairs at home can be managed in your absence, and arrange access to cash and financial services while you’re away.
