Pelham Public Library Receives Donation Of New Indigenous Book Collection
The Pelham Public Library has launched a new Indigenous Book Collection that was made possible through the generous donation from the Ignite the Spirit Foundation this month.
A new portable bookshelf was also donated to house this collection.
The 25 books donated are inclusive of all Indigenous People, including Metis and Inuit authors and have subjects of interest to all age groups. These books also offer insight into their culture, history and traditions.
The purpose of the donation is to increase education about the Indigenous Community, to foster positive relationships as well as cultural awareness and sensitivity within our communities.
"We hope that the Pelham Community will find this new collection informative and help to create an inclusive community" said Melanie Taylor Ridgway.
These materials will be on display at both of our locations and through holds in our catalogue.
