Wellspring Niagara is proud to announce the ground-breaking for its new Wellspring Niagara Regional Cancer Support Centre on 50 Wellspring Way in Pelham. The ceremony for this long awaited occasion will take place on September 12, 2017 at 4:00 p.m.

Join the Board of Directors, campaign team, staff, volunteers, members, and donors, as Wellspring Niagara reveals the details and celebrates the public announcement of its 5 Million dollar Help Us Build Hope Campaign - a campaign to support the expansion of programs and construction of its new Regional Cancer Support Centre in Pelham.

The new 11,000 square foot Wellspring Niagara Regional Cancer Support Centre is geographically centered in the heart of Niagara. This prime 1.8 acre site near Rice Road and Regional Road 20 was donated by the Town of Pelham. The expanded space will meet current and future program needs and develop space for new programs. This includes a teaching kitchen for Wellspring’s Nourish program, an educational series that provides different sessions on cancer and nutrition using the latest research to teach the fundamentals of good nutritional practices for cancer patients, including cooking demonstrations and take-home recipes. There will be a dedicated room for Wellspring’s popular Cancer Exercise, a rehabilitation program designed to help cancer patients continue to manage treatment- related symptoms and maintain their physical well-being. In addition, a Children’s Program Room will be added, providing a safe and support-focused space with programs such as Play-Based Therapy and Children’s Expressive programs that are designed to meet the needs of young people impacted by cancer in our community.

The new Wellspring Niagara Regional Cancer Support Centre will provide a sanctuary of understanding and a safe place for cancer patients, their family and caregivers. “As Niagara’s only cancer support Centre, demand for Wellspring’s programs and services are at an all-time high, and new needs continue to emerge”, says Ann Mantini- Celima the Co-founder and Executive Director of Wellspring Niagara. “Our new Regional Centre will serve all cancer patients, their families and close supporters and will meet the everyday challenges of people living with cancer, today and in the future. I am grateful to the Niagara community who have helped bring my late brother Aldo’s dream to fruition. His vision will continue to impact the lives of men, women and children who are impacted by cancer, and will ensure that no one will feel alone in their cancer journey.”

The Wellspring Niagara Board of Directors, the many volunteers and staff have been working diligently in order to bring this day to realization and look forward to opening the doors of the new Wellspring Niagara regional facility by the Fall 2018.

As a not-for-profit, charitable organization, Wellspring Niagara receives no funding from government or other cancer related charities for its programs and services. Wellspring Niagara relies solely on the support of the community it serves and could not exist without the annual financial support of the donors and sponsors from all across the region. Every dollar raised for Wellspring Niagara, stays in Niagara.

Since opening its doors in 2001, Wellspring Niagara has grown substantially and currently offers nearly 40 different programs in a 2,000 sq. ft. facility and serves more than 640 individuals annually. In 2008, Wellspring Niagara was

fortunate to receive the generous support of Meridian Credit Union’s Good Neighbour Program, who offered leased space at no charge in Stevensville, where satellite programming has been offered. As plans move forward with the construction of the new Wellspring Niagara Regional Cancer Support Centre in Pelham, Wellspring Niagara will no longer be offering satellite programs in Stevensville after October 26, 2017. However, its full roster of programs will continue to be offered at 3-3250 Schmon Parkway in Thorold until the new Regional facility is opened.

Members of the news media are invited to attend the ground-breaking ceremony of the new Wellspring Niagara Regional Cancer Support Centre on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at 4:00 p.m.
