Calling all local cultural creators and organizations!  On behalf of the Recreation, Culture & Wellness Department, I am happy to announce that the Town of Pelham will be hosting Culture Days 2017 – a 3-day event dedicated to promoting culture and arts within the community. This weekend event will take place from Friday, September 29 – Sunday, October 1, where local artists, musicians, instructors, designers, crafters, or any other cultural organization can host free, participatory activities for fellow community members to enjoy, learn, and get creative.

Canboro Road in downtown Fenwick will come alive on Saturday, August 19, when the Town of Pelham hosts a Green Street Challenge, swapping the road’s usual asphalt for grass and creating a temporary park in the heart of the village.

By transforming the street into a pop-up park, the Green Street Challenge creates an opportunity for children and families to play outside and enjoy all the benefits that community green spaces have to offer! Communities all across Canada have been chosen to participate in this initiative managed by Come Alive Outside to promote the importance of outdoor, unstructured play. The Green Street challenge offers a way to celebrate outdoor play and green spaces as essential ingredients to the well being of our society.

NEW Pelham Transit Summer Schedule starts Monday, June 26. Changes to the schedule include hours of operation between 7:23am-7:07pm, new stops at Centennial Park and Marlene Stewart Streit Park (Public Pool and Skatepark) throughout the day and new Thursday Night Dial-a-Ride between 7:00-9:30PM. Take transit to Peace Park to enjoy the THURSDAY NIGHT EXPERIENCE!

This years’ Canada Day Parade will be held on July 1 at 3:00pm in Fonthill. The Town is still accepting applications to participate in the Canada Day Parade.

Celebrate Canada’s 150th with a Heritage Tea Party at Old Pelham Town Hall! The event will take place on Mother’s Day, Sunday May 14, with two seating options available: 12:30pm or 3:00pm. Tickets are available for purchase at Town Hall, 20 Pelham Town Square, or Nature’s Corner Bakery & Café for $15.00.

Registration is now OPEN to reserve your tile that will make up a piece of Pelham’s Canada 150 Mosaic Mural! Painting Workshops will take place on June 8 and 9 between 1-9pm at Old Pelham Town Hall.

Play a part in “greening” your local community by joining Forests Ontario, Ontario Wood, and the Town of Pelham, on April 28th between 1-3pm for a Community Tree Planting Event.

SAVE THE DATE: Celebrate Canada’s 150th at the Town of Pelham’s Heritage Tea Party. This event will take place on Mother’s Day, Sunday May 14th, 2017 at Old Pelham Town Hall. Catered by Nature’s Corner Bakery & Café, guests can enjoy sandwiches, scones, cookies, tea, and lemonade!
Attendees are invited to dress in period costumes from the Victorian Era, and a Hat/Fascinator Contest will be held at each seating.
Seating 1 will be held at 12:30pm and Seating 2 at 3:00pm. Purchase a full table (minimum 8 seats) and receive a gift from Nature’s Corner!

2017 Call for Musicians: The Pelham Supper Market is developing a roster of pre-qualified, local musicians to perform a range of music genres in Peace Park from June to September. We want to showcase local talent and enhance the overall community environment of the Supper Market and the Thursday Night Experience through musical entertainment. Musicians of all ages and genres are encouraged to apply!

2017 Marks the 150th Birthday of Canada!
In commemoration of this historical year, the Town of Pelham will be working with the Canada 150 Mosaic Mural team, which is composed of three Canadian artists. The Mosaic Mural team has launched a two-year project involving all of Canada’s territories and provinces. This project will result in over 80,000 paintings and 150 individual murals that when united will form one gigantic mural mosaic. The goal is that by July, 2017 150 Murals will be created in 150 Communities across Canada!

On Saturday, February 11th, the Town of Pelham will be hosting an instructor-led, Valentine’s themed Ballroom Dance Social from 7:00-10:00pm at Old Pelham Town Hall! Tickets are now available at Town Hall, 20 Pelham Town Square, Fonthill, for only $10.00. Complementary snacks, coffee, tea & water will be available, along with a chance to win awesome door prizes!

Each week the Town of Pelham offers a drop-in Zumba program at the Pelham Arena Hall! Classes are held on Tuesdays at 9:30-10:30am & 7:00-8:00pm, Wednesdays at 7:30-8:30pm, and Thursdays at 10:00-11:00am

Monkeynastix is a fun and challenging fitness movement education program developing physical literacy in children ages 2 to 8 years.

Registration is now OPEN for our NEW Quilting Lessons for Beginners Program. Learn the basics of quilting and complete a runner/wall hanging during this 7 week program. The Fighting Days performance: On Friday, November 11th at Old Pelham Town Hall, celebrate the 100th anniversary of a woman’s right to vote by attending this play that follows the real life story of two Canadian women as they face the challenges of war, conscription, and the right to vote in 1910-1917.

 It's Never too Late to Learn to Skate!      

Adults at any age can start skating with this program which is geared towards learning, or improving on, the basics of skating. Participants will be introduced to various skills involving moving forward and backward, gliding, stopping, turning and developing endurance.

If you are interested in building your fundamentals or just want to learn to skate recreationally, Adult Learn to Skate is for you!

The Town of Pelham has partnered with Monkeynastix to offer a fun and challenging fitness movement education program to help develop physical literacy in children ages 2 to 8 years. “Following the success of our Monkeynastix sessions this summer during our Free Play in the Park program, we saw increasing interest and demand for this type of activity in our community,” said Recreation, Culture & Wellness Director, Vickie vanRavenswaay. “We are excited to offer sessions Wednesday evenings for 2 to 8 year olds at Old Pelham Town Hall (491 Canboro Road).”

Join Pelham as we celebrate Culture Days – the largest-ever Canada-wide public participation campaign undertaken by the arts and cultural community.

From Friday, September 30th until Sunday, October 2nd, 2016, get to know your local artist, cultural workers, organizations and groups by participating in free, hands-on activities at the Pelham Public Library.

Monkeynastix is a fun and challenging fitness movement education program developing physical literacy in children ages 1 to 8 years. Level 1 (1-2 years) Enjoy a variety of safe activities and music with your little one! This program is an introduction to move-ment education where participants explore through music, location and circuit activities in a fun, safe environment.

It’s the best time of the year - pool season! The Pelham Community Pool will open for 2016 on Saturday, June 11, 2016.

Part of our 2016 Canada Day Celebrations, Guests are invited to dress in period costumes from the Victorian Era to commemorate Fonthill's 160th Anniversary and enjoy a display featuring our Town's history.

Pelham celebrated the launch of our Healthy Kids Community Challenge this weekend at Isaac Riehl Memorial Skate Park. The Healthy Kids Community Challenge combines a community-based approach with centralized provincial supports to help communities develop and implement policies, programs and environmental supports that enable one common outcome: healthy children.


T.O.P. is a program designed to help youth ages 9 to 12 build the skills and confidence necessary to prepare healthy and tasty recipes emphasizing vegetables and fruit.   Along with recipe preparation, youth are taught basic kitchen safety and healthy eating principles over the course of the one week day camp. 



The Town of Pelham is eager to help kids run, jump, and play every day this summer by offering free activities for youth and families in partnership with the Healthy Kids Community Challenge Niagara.

Getting the word out about all the great programs and activities to its Town of Pelham residents is important.  We are happy to report that we will have weekly postings from the Town of Pelham’s  Culture & Wellness Programmer Julie Cook.

Love culture? Love Pelham? You could be the next member of the new Pelham Culture Advisory Committee.

Focusing on skills, balance and style, skateboarders will have 2 ½ hours of instruction, 3 days per week.  Campers will be placed in groups based on age and ability level.  Whether you are a true beginner or working on improving your skating, you will enjoy what this camp offers.  This camp includes Bissell's on Tuesday and Thursday day trip.  Helmet and pads are required.

AGE: 8-12 years of age

Week: August 15-19 -Trip Thursday to Marineland 

Location:  Marlene Stewart Streit Park, 55 Park Lane, Fonthill 

This program provides campers with an interactive opportunity to learn fire safety and gain insight into the career of a firefighter and their daily routine.  Led by volunteer firefighters and camp staff, this is hands on learning for campers including:  hose operation, search and rescue, fire extinguishers, ropes and knots, ground and aerial ladders, first aid, CPR and extrication.  This program encourages campers to work together, instilling team spirit and leadership skills.
